Top Collar Review - Healthy Dog Treats Via Post

Whilst at Crufts we met up with some great brands, some of who we were familiar with and some new product to the market. 

We love to see and hear about new products, as if you are anything like me you are always after the latest products for your pooch. 

One of those brands we had not come across before was Top Collar. Now before I explain exactly who they are and what they offer. Here are few photos from when we met them at their Cruft's stand. The lovely Sophia who owns Top Collar, was very happy to met me and Lottie and very kindly gave us some of their Sunday Dinner to review.

Who is Top Collar I hear you Bark?

Top Collar are a UK based company offering a healthy dog treat subscription service. Top Collar is about keeping your pooch happy and healthy. They only use real human quality ingredients, and use gluten free flour for all their dog biscuits meaning they are great for those with allergies. They also contain no extra sugars, fats, salts or preservatives so are a natural biscuit for your dog.As they contain natural ingredients they don't last as long as commercial treats but they delivery just after bake day so you receive them as fresh as it gets. 

How it works? 

Each box is priced at £5.99 with free postage. It is a no commitment subscriptions meaning you can cancel your subscription at any time from the members area. Boxes are sent out fortnightly on the 12th and 28th of each month, unless you choose a monthly subscription. Once signed up, you have access to the member areas which enables you to alter the frequency of your boxes or pause them for up to 2 months, great if your going on holiday. 

When signing up you have two options to choose from: 

Nutritional Box - great for those pooches who are watching their waste line and want to go healthy as they are lower in fat. 

Discovery Box - tuck into all the recipes on their menu and have a surprise each month.  

Each month, all boxes contain a 130gram resealable treat bag with a health card containing information regarding the receipt of the treats inside, as well as details of what will be included in your next box.

They have 6 different recipes that they choose from - Sunday dinner, Cheese and biscuits, full english, salmon and eggs, pork pie and Chicken Tangine. So there is plenty to keep your pooch interested. 

We were very kindly given a pack of the Sunday Dinner biscuits at Crufts, but as Sophia wanted us to experience the full Top Collar subscription service she also sent us a box of their cheese variety, through the post including their unique feature of Lottie's photos appearing on the box. This variety went down just as well, and I can say that delivery was easy as the box is able to fit threw your letterbox. 

Our Verdict 

Now Lottie is fed on a raw diet swe are always after healthy treats. It evident to see that Lottie loves the treats. You can really tell they are made with wholesome ingredients and don't smell like her old ones. They have plenty of crunch to them which Lottie likes in a biscuit (after all if it doesn't crunch its not a biscuit in our eyes). The resealable packets comes in really handy to keep them fresher for longer. A hassle free subscriptions means you never run of your pooches favourite treats again, and the customtions of the your pooches picture on the box really gives it that homemade feel. They are very reasonable priced for a homemade product and have the added bonus of free delivery. We would highly receommded these treats if you are looking for something natural for your dog diets.

Fine Dining for Dogs from Fish4Dogs | Squid Bites and Calamari Rings Product Review.

Now you guys know how much Lottie loves her food. So when Fish4Dogs approached us about reviewing their recently launchd luxury treat range, Lottie could not wait for them to arrive. 

Who are Fish4Dogs? 

As the name suggest it all evolves round fish. Fish4dogs offer a high end range of treats and complete based kibble for dogs. They are a small independent company based in Worcestershire. The idea behind Fish4Dogs was to use, productively, waste from the fish industry. Humans only eat 50% of the fish despite the rest being perfectly nutritious. All the fish used is sourced from Norway, which offers clean clear waters. A well regulated and controlled fisheries industry allows high quality fish with excellent sustainability credentials.

What did they send us?

Fish4Dogs have just launched a new range of luxury calamari treats for dogs. These treats bring the wonders of sophisticated fine dining to the canine world. Made from oven baked squid there are two products within the range.

Calamari Ring Treats - made from 100% oven baked squid. These treats are ideal if you want to know exactly what goes into the treats you are feeding your dog. As the name suggest they are formed into rings so are ideal to give as a extra treat before bedtime.

Squid Bites - also made from oven baked squid these treats are definitely going to wet your dogs appetite. Containing three simple ingredients - Squid 92%, Vegetables 5% and Glycerine 3% (made from palm tree so completely natural and safe). They are soft, so are easily broken up making them ideal for high value training treats.

Our Verdict

Now I must admit I'm not a big fish eater myself so I would  never dreamt of buying baked squid as a treat for Lottie, but once she tried them she loved them. I had to put the leftovers high up so she could not get to them! The squid bites are definitely a favourite in our household as they are ideal for clicker training, although Lottie would never refuse the Calamari rings either! The only thing I would say about them, is obviously because they are fish, they are stinky! Which although may bother the humans, makes them even more high value for the dogs. With simple natural ingredients along with the ethical sourcing of the fish these treats are top doggy products in our eyes.

They also sent us the puppy variety, which is the same recipe with smaller piece ideal for those little mouths. They do a range of varieties from fresh chicken to fresh wild boar, so there is bound to be something to entice you pooches taste buds

Our Verdict.. 
As Lottie is a Westie I am quite wary about changing her food suddenly as it can upset Lottie skin. although for any dog you should never change there make of food immediately as it can upset their tummy. It is always best to change it gradually over 7 to 10 days. However, I did add a little CANIDAE PURE elements with fresh lamb to her usually food as well as using it for training treats. Needless to say it went down brilliantly. Lottie loved it. She took to it really quickly and even choose to eat it over her normal food. Cheeky monkey! She was just as keen on the puppy variety which also went down a storm. The only bad thing (well not really bad) more of a suggestion is that the bags are not resealable. I do have a food container for Lottie's food but for an owner that hasn't, having a resealable bag would be very handy. We would highly recommended CANIDAE PURE elements dog food, not only does it use the best ingredients, but it is reasonable priced at £12.99 for 1.8kg bag and £59.99 for a 10.8kg bag for the CANIDAE PURE element fresh lamb variety. They also offer a money back gurattenee where if you dog doesn't love it they will give your money back, so whats to lose?

We were lucky enough to receive a email from Pet Shop Bowl asking us if we would like to review one of their brand new products. Of course we jumped at chance. Lottie loves trying new treats and toys.

So what did they send us? 

They sent us chicken and brown rice dry dog food from their brand new product range called Hill Ideal Balance. The range includes dry dog food, dog treats, wet dog food and dry cat food. Now Lottie is your typical Westie when it comes to food and can be very fussy. I on the other hand, am very aware of what I feed her. Westie's can suffer with skin allergies and certain food can irritate it more. Seen as Lottie suffers mildly I definitely am extra careful. So I was delighted to hear that Hill Ideal Balance has perfectly balanced nutrition and is made with the finest natural ingredients. They use chicken as their number one ingredient, meaning that there is no nasty added artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. All their product ranges have no wheat, maize or soy. So is great for dogs who have allergies to those. 

So what did we think?

Lottie absolutely loved it. Her current food is lamb and rice so I was originally a little concerned if she would like it. (The flavour they sent us was chicken and brown rice). But I needed not to of worried. As soon as I opened the cardboard box she couldn't wait to have a try. The bag has a handy seal which means that if like Lottie your dog is not a big eater there wont be any waste. It also comes in very handy if like us you haven't got a big enough container which will hold 12kg! The food itself it small hard piece and would easily suit any small or medium sized breeds. Although they really do cater for all sizes as they stock a small and large breed variety of the dry dog food. They also have a range for dogs over the age of 7 and of course not forgetting those puppies too! 

Our Verdict. 

We would highly recommend Hills Ideal Balance to any of our animal friends. It has all the qualities we look for in a good quality food. Lottie's gives it a massive 5 out of 5 in her woof rating, and with their bottomless bowl feature it will mean you never have to run out of dog food every again!.

Yummy Treats and Chews | Green and Wilds Product Review.

Food, I just can't get enough of the stuff what doggy doesn't love something yummy! Therefore I was really exicted to receive some new yummy treats and chews for me to review from the newly named Green and Wilds. What dog doesn't love receiving present.

You may have noticed their new name popping up on their online shop and labels? With lots of great new natural products coming along, they wanted a name to embrace this, the old "Antler Dog Chews" name just didn’t cut the mustard! So they changed it. We say what a great idea and much prefer their new name, it definitely makes the products sound more natural. Green and Wilds is an independent business that supplies healthy, natural, unprocessed, completely sustainable dog chews, hand baked luxury dog biscuits and natural eco toys. The company is based on solid ideological beliefs, run on ethical principles by ethical and caring people. They are committed to looking after our planet and living in a world where we treat others as we would like to be treated. They produce chews from whole antlers, naturally shed from healthy, free ranging deer and hold large stocks so no animal are ever harmed for the chews. We really are not keen on rawhide in this house so are always looking a tasty alternative. Hence we have brought many antler chews before. We haven't however tried there brand new range of baked treats. Training is such a big part of mine and Lottie life we are always on the look on for some new training treat, luckily for us they sent us a box of their brand new Salmon and Kelp Training Treats as well as some Carrot and Apple bakes, a medium original antler and a fallow strip. I was one very lucky dog! Firstly the baked treats, they are all wheat, preservative and artificial flavour free, and have no added salt and sugar. Only natural ingredients are used. They come in two varieties which are both avabibale in two sizes small as training treats and a larger size as a dog biscuit. They both come in two flavours, Apple and Carrot and Salomn and Kepl.
Antler Bakes Dog Biscuit , Apple and Carrot (£3.29) - these wholesome biscuit are baked in the UK with love and are free from all the nasties, NO shameful flavourings, flavour sprays or preservatives, no artificial colourings, sugar or salt added just wholesome ingredients that dogs love. So not only do they taste great they are also great for your dogs health. They contain the famous Green and Wilds ground antler powder as well as a great mix of other naturals ingredients including carrots, apple, parsley, rosemary, garlic these have a range of health benefits including improving your dogs circulation and metabolism as well as reducing cholesterol. They are also high in minerals and nutrients which can help strengthen bone structure, muscles and joints, maintain healthy cells aiding the immune system as well as helping to prevent inflammation from arthritic conditions. After a ruff day give your friend a treat, you know they're woof it!

Crunchy Baked Training Treats, Salomn and Kelp (£2.79) - it's not just the dog biscuits that have all those added health benefits these great sized training treats do too. Containing carrots which is a great source of vitamins A and E which are great for healthy skin they are sure to keep your dogs coat looking great. They also contain salmon, kelp, flax seed and rosemary. As a result these training treats can help bad breath, are high in fibre and are a excellent source of Omega 3 and 6 fish oils. If your going to use clicker training to train your dog why not treat them with the healthiest training treats around.

Essentials Antler Dog Chew, small (£6.59) - These chews are 100% natural, long lasting, are fantastic for teeth and full of great minerals for good health. Vets recommend them and dogs just love them, finding them exciting and irresistible. Being a totally natural product, it's free from additives, colours and preservatives, it's hypoallergenic, low odour and non-sticky too! All chews are hand washed and cut and then sand finished on all edges. Size - medium is suitable for medium sized breeds from Cocker Spaniels to Border Terriers. It will be around 11cm long, depending on circumference and density of the antler. Other sizes available include medium, large and x large.

Fallow Antler Dog Chew (£5.08) - These softer superior antler chews are great for older puppies and softer chewers (Particulary breeds such as Westie's who tend to be soft chewers). These chews have the same added benefits as the original antler chew as they contain a number of good minerals and are long lasting. All their Antler chews are from naturally shed/dropped, sustainable, free ranging, deer antler, 100% guaranteed.

• Verdict and Where to Buy.

Two main focuses in our household are training and weight, both of which are not a problem with these great products. They are high value so Lottie will work extra hard in training as well as been low in fat. We also says a BIG no no to rawhide so are always on the look out for a tasty alternative that aren't high in fat, both chews are an ideal alternative to the dreaded sloppy rawhide. The training treats and biscuits Lottie's loves. The apple and carrot dog biscuits smell extra yummy and are almost good enough for me to eat (although I did resist, I don't think Lottie would of been to impressed). We find a lot of high value treats often leave a lot to be desired in there ingredients but as these are all 100% natural we love them!
Lottie gives all the goodies that were provided a big 5 out of 5 woofs, they are also at a great low price and for the biscuit and training treats offer a variety of four boxes for the great price of £11.99 what more could you possible ask for! All of the great goodies are available on Green and Wilds website and they offer free delivery for orders over £39. They also sell to trade so you may find them in your local pet store, vets and farmers market and all manners of traders.
